Based in Tauranga, Christie brings over 20 years of legal experience, having practiced as a lawyer in Hamilton, Auckland, Sydney and Tauranga, including at a top 6 Auckland firm and an international accounting practice.
Christie is renowned for her sensible, plain English, commercial advice. Her ability to cut through the complexities of legal issues and find pragmatic, cost-effective solutions is what sets her apart. She represents both employers and employees, offering her expertise to a wide range of clients, including larger employers in the Bay of Plenty, including local body and Maori land trusts.
With a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of employment law, Christie's experience includes handling restructures, acquisitions, personal grievance claims, compliance matters, human rights, and privacy issues. She has also advised on global acquisitions, restructures, and international assignments, collaborating with specialist advisors on associated commercial and tax issues.
Christie is a regular attendee at mediations and has represented clients at various tribunals and courts, including the Employment Relations Authority, Employment Court, and Court of Appeal. She is admitted to the bar in New Zealand and New South Wales, Australia, and is also admitted to the High Court of Australia.
In addition to her legal practice, Christie contributes to the community through her role on the Board of Tautoko Mai, which provides sexual harm support services in Bay of Plenty and Waikato and she sits on the Establishment Committee of the Western Bay of Plenty Women’s fund. She is a member of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand.
